Elaine Nelson (CPA) has 10+ years of public accounting experience driving proactive solutions for both public and privately-held clients. She provides accounting insight and practical recommendations to company leaders on ways to improve their business processes and financial reporting.
In addition, Elaine has been an Associate Director of Corporate Accounting while working at the largest company in Minnesota. “I know what it’s like to be on the other side of the table,” says Elaine. “I understand the compliance complexity that clients face and concerns they have working with an outside audit team or CPA. We bring a service-first mentality to each client engagement. I don’t walk into an audit looking for a ‘gotcha’ moment. I’m more interested in being a resource, giving your business my personal attention, and then learning what I can do to help you solve risk or growth challenges.”
As a director of DS+B’s audit and business advisory services group, Elaine is a leader valued by both clients and accounting staff alike. Her expertise is in attest services, audits, reviews, compilations, evaluation of business processes, internal controls documentation, making recommendations for financial management efficiency, and advising on mergers & acquisitions.
Elaine also leads comprehensive training sessions with internal management teams on emerging technical accounting issues, and the impact to the specifics of their company’s business. The end result for our clients is advising on accounting methods to save them time, reduce complexity and eliminate risk.
“Accounting is the language of business and financial management – but it doesn’t have to be confusing,” says Elaine. “My strength is in distilling complex, technical topics into plain English. This helps all sides understand the issues and make effective action plans to address each piece, one-at-a-time.”
