Haiti Earthquake relief contributions made before March 1, 2010
President Obama signed into law a bill that allows two options for the deduction of monetary contributions for Haiti Earthquake Relief. For contributions made after January 11, 2010 and before March 1, 2010, taxpayers can claim a deduction on their 2009 or their 2010 returns. The bill also contains a provision which recognizes donations made to a charitable orgnaization via text message.
