Barry Divine
Principal
As a principal of DS&B, Barry Divine (CPA, ABV) is a leading
authority on the tax code. His thorough knowledge of the tax code,
along with his thoughtful and sensitive approach to business, allows
Barry to render highly regarded and reliable interpretations for
any DS&B client.
A recognized leader in the accounting and tax industry, he is often
asked to present to peers and business leaders regarding the impact
of tax code changes to both businesses and individuals. Barry also
has outstanding achievements in matters of client litigation support.
As both as a consulting expert and as an expert witness, he is widely
respected in the Twin Cities business community. He also is a leading
expert on business valuations, and commercial damages and has completed
rigorous education to earn his Business Valuation designation from
the AICPA.
Barry joined DS&B in September 1975. He has a B.A. in sociology
from the University of Minnesota and a B.S. in business accounting
from the University of Minnesota. Barry received his Accreditation
as a Business Valuator with the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants in February 2002. In addition, he is an active
member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
and the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants (MNCPA).
He has been a member of many committees at the MNCPA including being
a charter member of the MNCPA annual Business Valuation Conference
task force. He has been the recipient of numerous achievement awards
for service to committees at the MNCPA and to BKR, an association
of independent accounting and business advisory firms.
In his spare time, Barry enjoys participation in Bowling, attending
various sporting events, operas and concerts. He also enjoys reading
(fiction and non fiction including mysteries), puzzle solving (jigsaw,
crossword or logic) and volunteering with various community organizations.
Since the birth of his first grandchild he has now added amateur
photography to his spare time pursuits. He has also been the official
auditor for the Mrs. Minnesota America Pageant since 1993. He resides
in Eagan. He has been married to his wife Cheryl for 35 years, and
they have three children - a daughter Eve and sons Michael and Chad.
